My Mom’s Affair with 5 S
I think my mom has danced around the concept of 5 S for the last 10 years, working as a quality control supervisor for one of the biggest automobile manufacturing plants here in Idaho. There really isn’t anybody that I can talk about that would imbibe the best qualities of a person who lived and breathed 5 S more than my mom. At work everybody just respects for ways them and when there is a question about how to implement the 5 S protocol in any department she’s the go-to person. I was lucky enough to see my mom in action when it came to her 5 S knowledge when I had to attend a convention about floor tape and how it is instrumental as a 5 S tool in the manufacturing assembly line. I didn’t really know who the keynote speaker was until I found out that it was my mom and I knew it was going to be good. During the course of the seminar my mom talked about how 5 S can become an instrumental factor in shaping the production behavior of the assembly line and convincing the workforce that a lean approach to job completion is more convenient and quality efficient. The best part of the seminar was when she asked us to stand up and do a very fun activity that related 5 S to daily tasks. It reminded me of the most important values that needed to be set when it came to the implementation of a 5 S system in the production structure but at the same time I had a lot of fun. When my mom had finished her keynote speech and approached her and told her that I was really proud of her in that my dream is to become our successor so that someday I may be the person giving out speeches about floor tape and 5 S.

What is a thermal printer for and why is it becoming popular? Thermal transfers are used to make labels especially in the clothing industry. At times, barcodes are also printer using this technology because it is considered to be quite durable. It works well with a special thermal paper which allows the heated print head to go over it and create the prints. The moment the driver presses the button when the destination is reached, the receipt will be printed.
